Fluorine Rubber Vulcanization Accelerator

Rubber additives for shortening vulcanization time and improving rubber properties

To achieve high-performance fluoroelastomers, the vulcanization process relies on specialized chemical additives known as vulcanization accelerators. Available in powder or granular form, these additives are designed to speed up the vulcanization reaction, reducing production time while enhancing the physical properties and chemical stability of the final rubber products. By improving the degree of vulcanization, these accelerators help create materials with superior heat resistance, mechanical strength, and long-term durability. They are essential for meeting the demanding requirements of modern industrial applications.

Typical Applications

Vulcanization accelerators are widely used in tire manufacturing, conveyor belts, sealing components, rubber footwear, and cable production, helping to improve curing efficiency and material performance. They are also suitable for coated fabrics, food-grade rubber, and medical rubber products, ensuring stability and durability in specialized applications. Accelerator PZ works well with butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, and EPDM, making it an excellent choice for rubber products that require low compression set and strong aging resistance. Its approval by the U.S. FDA further supports its use in food and pharmaceutical applications, where material safety and performance are critical.

Rubber Properties
  • Mechanical Performance

Fluorine rubber vulcanization accelerator helps improve tensile strength, elongation resistance, abrasion resistance, and hardness, enhancing the durability of rubber products.

  • Environmental Resistance

Some accelerators provide aging resistance and anti-yellowing properties, helping rubber maintain color stability and long-term performance. Anti-yellowing accelerators are particularly useful in white or colored rubber compounds, preventing discoloration over time.

  • Material Characteristics

Typically insoluble in water but dissolves easily in diluted alkalis and organic solvents such as carbon disulfide, benzene, acetone, and dichloromethane. Offers stable storage properties, making it suitable for long-term industrial use.

  • Thermal Performance

Helps reduce vulcanization temperature, leading to lower energy consumption during processing. The required curing temperature varies depending on the accelerator; for example, Accelerator PZ cures at 100°C, showing high activity at lower temperatures but with an increased risk of scorching.

Packaging

Available in bagged or drum packaging, with standard options such as 25kg per bag or 25kg per drum. Customized packaging solutions may also be available depending on specific supplier offerings and customer requirements.

Processing Support

Vulcanization accelerators are incorporated during the rubber mixing process, blending with rubber, curing agents, and activators in an internal mixer or open mill. Proper dispersion within the compound ensures consistent curing performance and optimized material properties, helping to improve efficiency and end-product quality.
