Rubber and elastomer materials for the petrochemical industry

Fluoropolymer-based materials are widely used in the petrochemical industry due to their excellent chemical resistance and high-temperature stability. These properties allow equipment to operate reliably in harsh chemical environments, reducing maintenance costs and minimizing downtime. Fluoroelastomer compounds are particularly suited for three key components in petrochemical applications:

  • Oil Well Seals: The challenging conditions of oil wells require materials that can withstand high temperatures, extreme pressure, and exposure to oil, gas, and water. Fluoroelastomer seals are commonly used in wellhead assemblies and Christmas trees, ensuring long-term performance and leak prevention in demanding extraction environments.
  • Refinery Equipment Seals: Fluoroelastomer gaskets, seals, and hoses play a critical role in reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and valves used in refineries. Their resistance to strong acids, bases, and organic solvents helps prevent leaks, maintaining process efficiency and equipment longevity.
  • Pipeline Seals: For pipeline connections and valve sealing, materials must resist oil exposure, aging, and mechanical wear. Fluoroelastomer seals extend service life, reducing maintenance costs while ensuring safe and efficient petroleum transportation.
